2018 Event Info
On November 16th & 17th we are setting up a camp site in Newport (same field we host our 5K, across the street from James Street Tavern). 2 Nights and 2 Days. Campers aren’t required to camp both nights.
Camping out in Newport represents a commitment to warming up local children in need physically and mentally. It’s windy. It’s cold. It’s about community. It’s more than a coat. Join in on the camping and giving experience to help gift brand new OPERATION WARM coats to 1,800 local children!
Sadly, 71% of these local children live at or below the poverty line. This is 3 x’s the national average and no one realizes this. The following week, on November 23rd, we will distribute the coats. Brand new coats will help with self-confidence, peer acceptance, overall wellness, increased school attendance and a better future. It’s more than a coat.
Instead of a registration fee, each camper will receive a donation link to send to their friends, family and colleagues. This is how we will raise our total of $40,000. No donation is too small!
The Camp Site will Feature:
- Daily Meals from the Campout Grill
- Essentials (Snacks, First Aid Kits, etc.)
- Fire-Side Chat’s with local community members, leaders and officials
- Fire-Side Acoustic Music
- Yard Games (horseshoes, baggo, etc.)
- Hot Chocolate and S’mores Happy Hour
- Bonfires at Night
BYOT – Bring your own tent!
Kids 10 and over are welcome to attend with adult supervision.
Last year 24 Brave Campers took on chilly/windy conditions and slept out, overnight in Newport for TWO NIGHTS on November 16-18, 2017.
All in an effort to raise funds for the purchase of 1,100 brand new coats. Mission Accomplished! We handed out over 1,600 coats at local schools in Newport.
