The Delaware KIDS Fund worked with local agencies during the 2016 Holiday Season selecting four local, deserving families in need by providing Christmas gift for the children, financial assistance for the parents and a holiday meal for the entire family to enjoy. Working with partner agencies (Child, Inc., Lutheran Community Services and The Delaware Army National Guard) – the DE KIDS Fund was able to identify local families in need. The campaign was designed to inspire confidence and provide temporary relief for the Holiday Season. $11,700 of goods, services and gifts were provided in total.
Longtime KIDS Fund Supporter Brian Sweeney visited the Delaware KIDS Fund and donated brand new coats, hats and gloves for dozens of local children in need. This is the 7th consecutive year Brian has visited, donated brand new coats, hats and gloves.
The Delaware KIDS Fund presented The Cape Henlopen Food Basket a gift for $1,000 for the 2016 Holiday Season. The Cape Henlopen Food Basket provides food support to more than 200 families each month, encompassing nearly 600 adults and children. This gift was timed to help the Cape Henlopen Food Basket prepare for higher food demand in the coming post-holiday winter months. The Delaware KIDS Fund continued the tradition of its longstanding summer fundraising event by hosting the 7th Annual KIDS Fund 5K in Newport and the Inaugural KIDS Fund 5K in Dewey Beach. Now known as the KIDS Fund 5K Series – held the first two weeks in August, both 5K’s helped raise over $34,000 and feature over 478 runners and walkers, 67 corporate sponsors, 21 volunteers and 120 medalists. All funds raised from this series is placed back into the community towards emergency food programs intended for Delaware children.
In 2011, The Delaware KIDS Fund launched its Tuition Assistance Program and every year, The KIDS Fund selects 5 local students to support in their educational goals by offering financial assistance to be used towards tuition. One of the first recipients, Jada Stephens submitted a letter of appreciation recently. Congrats to Jada on all of her success! The Delaware KIDS Fund is proud!
