The Delaware KIDS Fund continued the tradition of its longstanding summer fundraising event by hosting the 7th Annual KIDS Fund 5K in Newport and the Inaugural KIDS Fund 5K in Dewey Beach. Now known as the KIDS Fund 5K Series – held the first two weeks in August, both 5K’s helped raise over $34,000 and feature over 478 runners and walkers, 67 corporate sponsors, 21 volunteers and 120 medalists. All funds raised from this series is placed back into the community towards emergency food programs intended for Delaware children.
In 2011, The Delaware KIDS Fund launched its Tuition Assistance Program and every year, The KIDS Fund selects 5 local students to support in their educational goals by offering financial assistance to be used towards tuition. One of the first recipients, Jada Stephens submitted a letter of appreciation recently. Congrats to Jada on all of her success! The Delaware KIDS Fund is proud!
The Delaware KIDS Fund received a 2nd Place Finish in the Annual Communications Contest hosted by The Delaware Press Association for its Annual Appeal Campaign which raised over $34,000 in 2016. The Delaware KIDS Fund submitted for the Public Service Category identifying its campaign and described its formula for Donor Outreach. This formula was introduced in 2014 and helped increase campaign contributions by 168% since 2013!
The DKF broke last year’s “year-end appeal” record – by raising an all- time fundraising high of $34,007 during their annual appeal. The KIDS Fund beat their goal by $8,000 and since 2008, the KIDS Fund and Harvey, Hanna & Associates team has collected over $132,000 from their annual appeal. Held every year during the holiday season, the program was designed to combat the food insecurity issue amongst Delaware children. Currently, 1 in 5 kids suffer from food insecurity.
Helping Kids in Sussex County: Jon DeVoll, Executive Director of the Cape Henlopen Food Basket (CHFB), accepts a $1,000 gift from The Delaware KIDS (Kids In Distressed Situations) Fund, a 501-c-3 non-profit organization that focuses on food security in Delaware. The Delaware KIDS Fund is administered by Harvey, Hanna & Associates (HHA) of Wilmington. The Cape Henlopen Food Basket provides food support to more than 200 families each month, encompassing nearly 600 adults and children. This gift was timed to help the Cape Henlopen Food Basket prepare for higher food demand in the coming post-holiday winter months. The Delaware KIDS Fund has donated $6,000 to the Cape Henlopen Food Basket since 2008.
