The 4th Annual Delaware KIDS Fund 5K will have an impact on the local community raising over $18,000 for Kids In Distressed Situation

Hundreds of runners hit the streets of Newport on Saturday August 3rd for the 4th Annual Delaware KIDS Fund 5K presented by Harvey, Hanna & Associates, MySherpa, Geico, ARS Fleet Service and Drinker Biddle. Over 300 runners and walkers took on what many on the 5K circuit consider one of the more challenges courses. Runners and walkers enjoyed pre and post-race festivities including music, food, beverages and raffles under a large tent at the James Street Tavern in Newport. Featuring popular Delaware Mascots YoUDee and Rocky Bluewinkle, massages by Therapeutic Massage and Wellness, creative coffees from Java Puppy and a Dunk Booth to help raise extra funds for the KIDS.

DE KIDS Fund 5K raised nearly $11,000 to help the more than 120,000 hungry kids in our local communities. A portion of the proceeds will also be donated to the Limestone Presbyterian Church Food Closet

Presented by ARS Fleet Service, My Sherpa, Drinker Biddle and in partnership with UnitedHealthCare Community Plan, this annual 5K run/walk featured a Kiddie K before the start of the race, a misting tent for runners and a dunk tank – a nice treat on a hot day!

The after-party, held at James Street Tavern, included live music, coffee from Java Puppy and appearances by Rocky Blue Winkle and YoUDee. Michael Daigeaun and Kelly Horowitz, the overall male and female winners from the field of 280 runners, received Apple gift cards.
